Advanced Surveying Technologies (AST) exists to provide the specialized surveying services required to properly monitor the deformation of building structures, dams, and tunnels, and monitor the subsidence of land.  High precision control and deformation monitoring is our firm's only focus.  We do not provide other types of professional surveying services such as boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking surveys, etc.


Deformation and subsidence surveys are intended to provide highly accurate positioning of distinct monitoring points that are tied to stable reference points using specialized equipment.  These surveys offer a picture of the global trend of movements within a particular type of project when the same monitoring points are reobserved (positioned) at selected intervals of time. 


Modern precise equipment and customized methodologies when properly implemented can provide accuracies to +/- 3 millimeters or better at the 95% confidence level.  Depending on the client’s needs, a deformation monitoring survey may include determining the magnitude and direction of movement, determining the level of accuracy required to satisfy movement criteria, and determining the frequency of re-measurement.  AST is qualified to design and perform a monitoring program to satisfy those needs.
